This week I received a request for a plugin that would allow upload of files from a WordPress blog without requiring a user login. Ideally the plugin would send an email to the administrator of the blog when a file is uploaded, would allow the user to add some meta to the file being uploaded and the file upload location would be configurable. Some of the functionality already exists in the Secure Files Plugin There has also been a request for a plugin that enables EXIF functionality in WordPress, gathers the information from uploaded files, stuffs the EXIF information in meta for the post and then displays them as custom fields or when you hover over the image. Some of this functionality already exists in photo plugins and modifications but a simple and seamless plugin would be nice. If you would like your need or idea for WordPress functionality to […]

Open Picture Window opens a new browser window containing the image specified using JavaScript. You have the option to choose the features as well as choose if you want it to be centered. Thumbnailer is a plugin for WordPress that allows you to generate thumbnails of images “on the fly” i.e. the script will create a thumbnail of the original image as it is viewed. Header Image Rotator rotates your blog header images. WP2HTML lets you export your blog entries as a single HTML file. Adds HTML file to ZIP archive. Also check out Gravatar (and userpics) on the same page. It allows you to generate a gravatar URL complete with rating, size, default, and border options. See the documentation for syntax and usage. Blogging, Business of Blogging

I love FeedBurner and I have been using their service for quite some time. I love their statistics and though I do not pay for the “Secret HallPass and Handshake” I really benefit from understanding subscription and and click patterns. However, Feedburner and consequently the FeedBurner Feed Replacement plugin suffers from a major flaw that has become quite irritating of late. The feed replacement plugin and Feedburner have very little granularity, a flaw that WordPress does not suffer from. As a matter of fact, WordPress’ feed versatility is one of the best in the industry and though the system is not without its weaknesses, it provides some of the most useful and varied options to distribute feeds. When I use Feedburner, I completely lose that versatility. Unless I can come up with a pain free method of re-instating the versatility (and it does not look good), I feel that the […]

General

WeblogToolsCollection is now available in Deutsch and in Español. We are planning further feature enhancements such as direct linking from this blog to translated posts and cross posting of news. We will also add a few more languages in the future if these two translations become popular AND readers see a benefit from such translations. The first two languages were chosen based traffic patterns of this blog and past user requests. Since I am quite inept at both these languages, I would appreciate it if a couple of my readers would do me a favor in spreading the word and post the links to these blogs in the respective WordPress Forums along with a small explanation of the purpose. Thanks for your help and please let us know what you think.
