I will test and use it, and release new wordpress theme for wordpress 2.9 πŸ˜‰

  2. Misao says:

I can’t belive they release 2.9 Final that fast. Just about 2 days after RC 1.

  3. James says:

wow that was really fast and thanks for the update

  4. Webbhotell says:

WOW 2.9 is out?! Seems I need to do a lot of things. For one, check if my plugins still work on this version. *sighs* I think I’m gonna do this first thing next year. Don’t wanna work over Christmas. Lol! But I’m excited on this over using 2.9.

  5. Keith Dsouza says:

@Misao – Yes it came as a surprise to me, which is why I said Surprise in the post. Actually, I was thinking about writing about WordPress RC1 when I saw that WordPress 2.9 got released.

  6. Uwe says:

Your WordPress database has been successfully upgraded!

    Works like a charm

  7. turisuna says:

Wow it’s faster than I thought, I like the complete image editor and the video embed facility, this new version make my job easier, love it πŸ™‚

  8. Sean Breslin says:

I’m getting a “simple tags do not work” warning and nothing I do clears it? This started when I upgraded to 2.9?

    Any Ideas please…

  9. Chantal says:

Found first failure… Scheduled posts… tried four different times and it missed each and every schedule, then I have to edit it… and it still doesn’t post… what’s up with that?

    • You’ll need to goto the Edit page that displays all posts, not one specific one, click the Quick Edit option, and change the status to Published. Other routes don’t seem to work. I’ve collated a bit of information here – http://chrismerriman.com/wordp.....-problems/ . There is a plugin that can detect these problems and automatically fix for you.

  10. Yohay says:

This is quite an impressive version, with great and useful features. I already began enjoying them.

Unfortunately, some basic things don’t work:
    1. Pingback and trackbacks aren’t sent (internal and external links).
    2. Post scheduling doesn’t work: every scheduling ends with “Missed schedule”.

It’s already running in the forums. I hope they fix it soon…

  11. Ipstenu says:

I updated my dev blog to RC1 just a couple days ago, to make sure my plugins worked. Nicely done, nicely. Six upgrades to do, five went okay, one needed a manual file upload. I blame its server.

  12. gestroud says:

Upgrade went fairly smoothly. Keep getting the “your database needs upgrading” message on numerous sites — think it has something to do with browser cache. πŸ˜•

Simple Tags’ isn’t fully functional any more on the front end, not even the development version. Can’t save the setting on the widget, so ALL tags get displayed. πŸ™

Beyond that, everything is smooth sailing! πŸ™‚

    • jjp says:

Along with Simple Tags, I also noticed that the Wickett Twitter Widget plug-in isn’t working either. In fact, it causes the page layout to break from the point where the plugin/widget is set to display, hmmmm…

But indeed, other than some minor plug-in hiccups, a pretty smooth upgrade with this release.

  13. In case anyone’s interested, patches for the three main issues so far in WP 2.9:

    http://www.semiologic.com/2009.....-fix-them/

  14. I eas so excited about wordpress 2.9 but after its release when I updated it, I landed with 2-3 tech issues… I checked into the forum and realize its not only me
other users are facing similar issues…

  15. well now version 2.9.2 is out and hope all problems are gone?
