Short answer? It is jumpin! Have you checked out the Plugin Competition Blog recently? There are six new plugins announced for the competition and all of them look fantastic. The comments have been very positive and visitors have been actively rating the entries as they come in. Here are the simple steps: Register on the Plugin Competition Blog, wait to be given author permissions (within 24 hours) Make sure you check all the Plugin Competition Rules and adhere to them in order to be eligible Introduce your plugin(s) or your plans for writing plugins on the Plugin Competition blog Once your plugin is ready, publish it on the blog and make it available for download via WordPress Extend Provide initial support for the plugins through the Competition blog, your own blog or other place of publication and through WordPress Support and Extend. The last step, but the most important step, is to submit the final code for your plugin to us via email. WordPress Plugin Competition 2009 Started!

The WordPress Plugin Compeition 2009 was underway on the 1st of May. This precludes the fact that any plugins developed or released after the 1st of May (but before the 31st of July, inclusive) can be entered into the compeition. There has been a lot of interest in the competition but no entries on the Plugin Competition Blog yet. If you are interested in posting on the blog but do not have a registration, please register there and we will give you the proper permissions. Please use this forum topic on the WLTC Community to ask for or request ideas for plugin development as part of the competition. As for the prizes, over $2300 have been pledged towards prizes for the competition this year, which is awesome. It is that time of the year again. We will be holding another WordPress Plugin Competition. The Plugin Competitions held in the past years have generated a tremendous amount of interest in WordPress and our entrants have come up with fantastic plugins such as WP Comment Remix, Manageable,  Who Sees Ads and of course OneClick in addition to hundreds of others that were voted upon by readers like you. We have distributed thousands of dollars in prizes, helped popularize hundreds of plugins and have even prompted the adoption of various peices of code into the WordPress core. With WordPress 2.8 around the bend and the Google Summer of Code, I have very high hopes for this year. About 10 days back we announced that user voting has been opened up for the plugins in the WordPress Plugin Competition. As of this post, the various plugins have received over 960 votes. While this may seem to be a sizable number, it also means that many of our visitors have still not given their votes to their favorite plugins. Remember that there is a lot at stake in this competition and it would do justice for the plugin authors to receive your esteemed vote! Meanwhile, our judges are busy testing and evaluating the plugins and we should have the results pretty soon. Have you placed your vote yet? If not, then hurry before the voting closes!
