Not that we do not hear enough of Ma.tt and his history with WordPress, but USA Today had a nice article on Matt, WordPress and his fans. Mom says her son is so focused on WordPress, “Sometimes he forgets to eat and sleep. He’s a young man in a hurry. He never stops. I keep telling him to slow down.” Also of interest, via a review on Mashable, is of a service called Errorlytics. It is a 404 redirect service that lets a website owner track 404 page hits, transparently redirect 404 pages to other content within a blog and/or website and possibly increases pageviews and SEO. Matt has put together a tool to easily access (most) of the WordPress.org Plugin stats API using a simple GET string. It returns data back as JSON, and you can see the docs + example at http://api.uproot.us Though the functionality is dependent on the future availability of the endpoint at uproot.us (I wish the source for the API was available), I can see lots of possibilities for plugin developers. Drew has put together a tutorial to optimize your Apache VPS for WordPress that is worth a looksee if you are running a small VPS and need that extra oomph. Lastly, via Zedomax, I came upon a small tweak for MySql that could (and has in my case) dramatically improve MySql performance. Check out Angsuman’s tip and explanation if you are interested. Google Open Source Blog: Google Blog Converters 1.0 Released: Blogger (now) allows users the ability to export all contents of their blog, the Data Liberation team would like to announce the Google Blog Converters project. This new Open Source project provides the ability to easily move blog posts and comments from service to service. This initial release provides Python libraries and runnable scripts that convert between the export formats of Blogger, LiveJournal, MovableType, and WordPress. This is after Google decided to allow Blogger users to import and export data from Blogger.

Wordmobi: WordPress Client for S60.: Wordmobi is a WordPress client for the Symbian S60 series of devices. You do need to download and install Python on your device for this client to work. 30 Excellent WordPress video Tutorials lists a lot of good videos including videos for administration of WordPress, getting started, theme development and WordPress tools. Blogo is a blog editor for the Mac and Mashable has a nice review for the application. The new release also adds comment moderation for WordPress 2.7 or higher, improved Safari integration, and offline editing. I personally never got into desktop applications for blogging but I happen to find some sort of creative solace in the WordPress admin interface. 🙂
