This is indeed a good initiative to try and streamline theme design. Am not sure how many authors are going to jump on this bandwagon, but it is definitely worth considering for most theme authors. Am most likely going to give this a test drive.

I just ran a test on my blog, but it doesn’t seem to render properly. Did anyone else have a similar issue?

+1. Still a few kinks to be worked out, but it’s still promising.

Well, it isn’t supposed to render much. It’s just a starter framework that you can use to build your own theme without having to start completely from scratch.

Pretend that _s has provided you with the foundation for your new home. Now you just need to build the house.

So if I understand it correctly, it’s more for the PHP files, while the CSS doesn’t work fine? Or maybe it is just my blog.

I plan to run a few more detailed tests

The CSS is definitely working, it’s just not much to look at. _s is not designed to be great to look at. It’s designed to be a very basic foundation for you to build your own theme upon.

This is really great I will definitely try that out, I always wanted to start my own theme and thanks to you here it is.

This is great! It’s a quick way to get started on building your own theme! I’ll definitely be using it when my blog needs a redesign.

I heard about _s a few months ago, people were boasting it was going to replace the famous and awesome Toolbox theme.

Theme design is definitely fun to mess around with, but I think _s should be considered by the more tech competent folk. I tried it a few months ago and I couldn’t start making the changes I wanted. It was complicated for me, not being a programmer.

If you’re just looking to mess around, I think you should try Toolbox.
