Phone Your Blog — WordPress.com: Matt wrote a post yesterday about a new feature WordPress.com is testing using which a blogger on WordPress.com could get it set up, receive a special number and code and then call in to make a post. Interesting concept indeed. This is made possible by Twilio. Not yet available for self hosted WordPress blogs.

WordPress, WordPress Discussions

Actually this should not be a big surprise for those of us who frequent sites like this to see that the latest version of WordPress is moving out the door at this kind of pace. If you want to watch the parade of downloads then you should check out this site: http://wordpress.org/download/counter/ Personally I do not remember a similar download counter on past versions but that does not mean it did not exist.  Maybe someone from WordPress can comment on how this versions download pace compares to past updates. I think that would be interesting to know and compare. I grabbed this screenshot at 8:20 AM EDT just to give you a frame of reference I did some very rough calculations and watched the counter for 60 seconds to get an idea of just how fast those downloads are happening: 50 downloads per minute 3,000 downloads per hour 72,000 downloads […]

New Plugins Private Email Notifications Remove Email and IP address information from Email Notifications to protect the privacy of folks commenting on your blog. WordPress-MU Helpers This plugin is for WordPress-MU Developers and provides two fast functions for querying for all of the blog posts on all of the blogs on your MU network and will sort the resulting list quickly. There is a second function for doing the same for all blog comments across all of the sites on your MU network. Custom Post Relationships (CPR) Most of the “related posts” plugins out there while they provide some kind of control on how to create related posts, they all rely on an algorithm and the results are automatic. With CPR you get total control as you can manually select […]

As of yesterday, WordPress 3.0 “Thelonious” is out of beta and ready to be installed! There is a lot to look forward to in this point oh version, including a whole bunch of new features, a whole new default theme called Twenty Ten, integration of WordPress MU and multiple blogs into WordPress (boy that seems like such a huge goal from just a few years ago to compete with MT) and a whole slew of bugfixes. The WordPress produced video is embedded below. This is a big one and I am really looking forward to having our team dive into the nitty gritty of this release as soon as possible. Six Revisions has an ultimate guide to the new features in WordPress 3.0, while Rohand Mehta tells us of the 10 features that he is looking forward to in WordPress 3.0. I also really appreciated Navjot’s list of Template Changes/Tags […]
