For the past few days many of you may have been seeing connectivity issues with Akismet. The Akismet team was related to a timing bug in the code, however that has now been fixed and a new version of Akismet has been released.
The problem was a bug in the plugin’s diagnostic code that caused it to falsely report problems in some circumstances, even though everything was working correctly.
Upgrading to Akismet 2.2.5 will solve the connectivity reporting issues you may have been seeing.
thanks i am using askimet for 1 year now and i loved it:)
Great plugin, but it seems now daily 5 or 6 spam message are slipping through since my update to 2.2.5.
Is that a known issue?
I noticed both the connectivity issue and the upgrade via wp admin’s dashboard. Thanks for ur effort.
I had the connectivity issues after months of trouble free operation (after first having to get my hosting company to whitelist Akismet). I installed the plugin upgrade. The connectivity issues remain.
The recent upgrades didn’t change anything concerning how Akismet connects. It just warned you if it couldn’t connect. The last version reported false alarms.
So if the false alarms have been fixed, and I’ve upgraded to the fixed version, that must mean I’ve developed a genuine connectivity problem, yes?
As this post explains, there have been no connectivity problems with Akismet.
The problem was a bug in the plugin’s diagnostic code that caused it to falsely report problems in some circumstances, even though everything was working correctly.
I’d appreciate it if you could correct your post to clarify this.

@Alex Thanks for the information I have updated the post to reflect this now.
Just got this error for the first time today on one of my blogs. I was already using Akismet version 2.2.5…. Have been using 2.2.5 since it came out also.
