WordPress has come a long way since 2003, and this handy video from Jon Cave traces every step along the way. Don’t miss a beat when things really start to heat up in 2005 as work begins on WordPress 2.

Thanks James, that video was *wicked*. Must see on a widescreen monitor, otherwise it’ll be hard to recognize the very familiar avatars that shot cool “laser beams” during the whole development process.

Kudos to Jon Cave. Some questions: How did he do it? How long did it take to create and produce? I can only imagine 🙂

  3. Banago says:

Wanderful production. Wow – the history of WP in 8 minutes – that’s awesome.

Looks like a scene from Battlestar Galactica:)
Beside the joke it really shows the enormous effort you guys put into the development of wp

This is an amazing video. Great to watch how WordPress grows and to see the birth of new tags. This video really says more than a million words.

  6. Oliver says:

It was like a living organism, this was quite the fascinating video, many thanks to Jon Cave !

I was also struck by the relatively small number of active contributors in a simultaneous time…

  7. Ryan says:

Funny how you don’t realize how far along it’s come until you look back like this. Really cool video.

  8. Jon Clone says:

WordPress certainly has helped changed blogging and many other mainstream websites out there. Many successful sites had their humble start from using wordpress, like Groupon. The speed at which wordpress started to progress after 2005 was astounding.
