If You Want to Lead, Blog

If You Want to Lead, Blog From Sun’s COO Schwartz. The actual article requires a subscription (which I do not have) but sounds like a worthy read for corporation types looking to understand blogging philosophy. Personally, I would rather that corporations use knowledge from within their ranks to figure out what works and what breaks.

v1.2 of Connections Reloaded has just been released. 1.2 comes as a major update with a lot of additions as follows: I have added Links and Pages to the sidebar. Links displays only on the homepage while Pages displays all throughout. Currently only top level pages are displayed. You will need to edit the sidebar.php to display daughter level. Version info is not added to the footer. Easy for keeping track. Display of nested categories in the sidebar has been fixed Have added buttons under subscription for Feedster, Spurl, Furl, Newsburst, Rojo and Pluck. If anyone knows the button for adding to Google Reader, please let me know. All images used by the theme are now included in it, especially those used in the sidebar. Star Shaped Themes

Comments Off on Star Shaped Themes

Aubrey at Star Shaped Themes has released two great WordPress Themes. Red Autumn is bright yet subtle, this theme captures the essence of autumn with vibrant leaves and a neutral cocoa brown background. Twilight consists of greys, purples, and a whole lot of standards-compliance while still looking fashionable. Both include templates for archive, category, and link pages, have valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional and utilizes tableless CSS and semantically correct markup.

HOW TO: Boost Your Blog Traffic Some interesting information there on setting up Technorati, determining the stats of your blog through Technorati and Feedburner and a bunch of other geeky and techy stuff for tweak, play and enhance your blog. If you are a casual blogger this might be overkill, but if you are a weekend blog evangelist, Paul has your ticket. PS: Paul, your AJAX javascript triggers snort as “URL host spoofing attempt”. I suspect it is coming from the mint script. Thanks LifeHacker

Podcasters, meet Fruitcast: Monetize your podcast with Fruitcast. I am relatively sure thtat high profile podcasters are already doing this in their own right. Podcasters can signup to the service for free, add your podcast to the podcast directory, and then simply change your feed to point to your new Fruitcast RSS feed. Fruitcast will then stick a small 10 to 15 second long advertisement message that is simple and unobtrusive to the beginning or end of your podcast (possibly both). When your podcast gets listened to, you will then earn money from an advertiser that has been accepted to place an ad on your podcast.

Opinion: Flock Never Stood A Chance I simply do not see the need for Flock in my set of web tools, but then again I have never used tools developed by others to perform my itch/scratch functions (translated: written my own or emulated an existing one when I needed them). I believe that Flock is a good idea but the need is too fragmented. The number of people what would want the gamut of features that Flock offers from within their browser is not enough to employ 13 people (I think) on a full time basis. That being said, I am sure that Flock and its team has a lot of talent and good ideas going for them. I would just need to be really razzled and dazzled for me to switch to another browser besides the Fox.

Survey: One in Five Teens Have Own Blogs: Definitely an exaggeration in my opinion, but the numbers still quite astounding. Blogs and blogging have truly taken off among these young adults.
