Zamzar: Free online file conversion Convert files online from free. There are image file convertsions, document conversions (like Word, Excel etc), image conversions and video conversions. I personally would not do this for very sensitive files, but it might be useful in a fix or at remote locations where I do not have access to my desktop. Thanks Go2Web2

Google Co-op – Custom Search Engine: Create your own customized search engine with Google. Google will even let you add your own AdSense code to make money from your searches. [EDIT] I had posted the search code on this post but decided against it. Visit the custom search engine I created here. More information and discussion all over the web, including the official Google Blog.

Google Ping: Google introduces their pinging service for blogs that will notify Google of changes. I am surprised to see very little discussion for this service but am not surprised with the lack of fanfare or threats of switching. Ping-O-Matic does such an amazing job (amazing == you set it and forget it; well if you use WordPress you don’t even need to set it) that I can never see myself switching.

WriteToMyBlog: This post has been written in WriteToMyBlog. It is a free word processor for your blog with TinyMCE like rich text editing features. There are still some annoyances and browser based bugs but if your blog editor is not as full of features, this might be an alternative. I am still not sure how this will post to my blog, but I am willing to give it a shot. Thanks LifeHacker [EDIT] Interesting, it actually goes through the whole posting process, asks for the blogging tool, the location, credentials etc. It then goes through and asks for the categories to choose from and posts the blog. You can even save your credentials and add other blogs for future use. I guess this could be an alternative way to post stuff to your blog but the concept is still lost to me. If I have access to the web, I […]

Business of Blogging, Cool Scripts

OPML browser: Grazr Online, AJAX and free OPML browser for your blog or webpage. Interesting concept with an extensive writeup on TechCrunch. The interface is still quite fast and it seems to respond and load quickly even after being TechCrunched. I still have a problem with the actual use of such a tool on any blog. The general public will not find it very useful and without significant indentity management and it is quite useless as an actual feed reader. Marshall from TechCrunch suggests the New York Times RSS page as an example of a page that could benefit from Grazr but I have to disagree. I personally would visit that RSS collection to pick and choose feeds for my feedreader and rather like the granularity it provides. Notwithstanding the usability of the NYTimes RSS page, Grazr would just be confusing. In addition, I still have to figure out how […]
