I cherish the ability to communicate and I try to praise and imitate those who have the ability to communicate ideas lucidly and with alacrity. With that intent in mind, here are the Ten Reasons to choose WordPress. Aimed at the non-technical, could-be blogger, I could not have created a more succinct and convincing list myself. WordPress Functions Implementation History Tool: Ozh has come up with a fantastic WordPress Function Implementation History tool that is essentially a way to check when a function was implemented in WordPress and when and if it was removed in a trendy axajified manner, it will let you search across nearly 1900 functions through 31 WordPress releases, from 0.71 to 2.3. He also released a map of WordPress functions through all the versions. Very useful tool indeed. Thank you Ozh!

Integrate Drupal with WordPress: These two competing platforms now have a common bond. This Drupal module will allow you to run/administer a WordPress blog from inside Drupal as a module. The author claims that the module is tested with Drupal 5 and WordPress 2.2.1. In looking through the code, I see no reason why it would not work with 2.3 but I have not tested it. So if you are a Drupal user with a WordPress blog or if you are a WordPress user with a Drupal installation, this is your chance to run the roost from one perch. Features include a single level sign on and synchronization of profile data between WordPress and Drupal.

For those that have not heard of Scriblio yet,from their about page, it is an award winning, free, open source CMS and OPAC with faceted searching and browsing features based on WordPress. Scriblio is a project of Plymouth State University, supported in part by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Scriblio, is completely built on top of WordPress, is highly searchable and offers all the versatility and rich content capabilities of WordPress to the management of Library content. An example site built with Scriblio is the Lamson Library of Plymouth State University. Amazing!

Five Reasons Why The Mobile Web Sucks and the counter arguments from Russell (warning, littered with expletives) made me think about blogs, mobile web and the proliferation of blogs on mobile phones and mobile browsers. Since I am closely involved with many of the technologies that are being bolstered or criticized on those posts, I have my own opinions about some of them. Wireless carrier networks are SLOW: I am not so sure. Sprint has decent speeds and I can surf just fine on my phone or by using it as a modem. It is not as good as my 17 Mbps cable modem, but when I was stuck in a hospital and needed to call my parents in India using Skype via Sprint through my 755p, it worked like a charm. My VPN back to work and most surfing done over the phone was painless and got me through […]

Now that WordPress 2.3 Dexter has been released, it is time for everyone to upgrade and check out what the hoopla is all about. Just as in the WordPress 2.3 pre-release coverage, there are a lot of really good resources that discuss preparing your blog for it to be ready for the 2.3 upgrade. Since there is a bigger (relative term, bigger than upgrades in recent memory) chance that many of your plugins and themes might stop working with this new version, checking compatibility and making sure that everything will work as expected is even more important.
