Chitika publishers see drastically reduced earnings after audits: I got in after the hump, maybe well after the hump (the hump being the huge rush of people trying out Chitika for their adserving needs). I personally made little to no money right from the beginning and frankly should have known that this would be the outcome. Chitika had piss poor results for my blog with their text ads and their eMiniMalls returns have now fallen to those levels. Long live Chitika, Chitika is dead. There is enough money to be had in this business that if you create a little buzz in the industry, you can rope in enough people to start making you some money. I should really resurrect that open source text link ad app (to be able to sell ads independantly and dynamically on your blog, accept payments via PayPal) I was putting together.

Adsense featured WordPress theme

Tim Yang and Ozh have released Problogger Clean, a clean 3 columns theme with original features mostly aimed towards Adsense. Options are managed from an admin panel (using WordPress Theme Toolkit) which gives the theme a lot of functionalities and customization possibilities. The theme comes with built-in ads, so you won’t have a hard time trying to implement ads in a theme that was not designed for it. Its feature I like best : “Adsense Click Safety“, which prevents any click you could make on your own ads to be recorded, therefore to be counted as fraudulent. HOW TO: Boost Your Blog Traffic Some interesting information there on setting up Technorati, determining the stats of your blog through Technorati and Feedburner and a bunch of other geeky and techy stuff for tweak, play and enhance your blog. If you are a casual blogger this might be overkill, but if you are a weekend blog evangelist, Paul has your ticket. PS: Paul, your AJAX javascript triggers snort as “URL host spoofing attempt”. I suspect it is coming from the mint script. Thanks LifeHacker

Podcasters, meet Fruitcast: Monetize your podcast with Fruitcast. I am relatively sure thtat high profile podcasters are already doing this in their own right. Podcasters can signup to the service for free, add your podcast to the podcast directory, and then simply change your feed to point to your new Fruitcast RSS feed. Fruitcast will then stick a small 10 to 15 second long advertisement message that is simple and unobtrusive to the beginning or end of your podcast (possibly both). When your podcast gets listened to, you will then earn money from an advertiser that has been accepted to place an ad on your podcast.

Forbes Magazine goes after Bloggers No target is too mighty, or too obscure, for this new and virulent strain of oratory. Microsoft has been hammered by bloggers; so have CBS, CNN and ABC News, two research boutiques that criticized IBM’s Notes software, the maker of Kryptonite bike locks, a Virginia congressman outed as a homosexual and dozens of other victims–even a right-wing blogger who dared defend a blog-mob scapegoat. McDonald’s Dips Toe In Blogging Waters Last week, the company began an internal program that introduced corporate blogs, available only on the corporate intranet, behind the firewall. While this is seen as a small first step, it’s an important one in a company the size of McDonald’s, said Steve Wilson, senior director of global Web communications for McDonalds. Wilson spoke to a crowd of bloggers and curious marketing folk at Monday’s BlogOn social media summit in New York.

If you were ever thinking of running Chitika MiniMalls like the one showed in this post, use this referral to signup. (I do get some revenue from your referral). The ads were at an inopportune time for me and tended to produce about twice as much as Adsense in a given day over the small testing period I had setup. I might use them again in the future. Various different blog posts, sites and programs will help you tweak these ads to get the best results. Please understand that it is legal to run both Chitika Minimalls and Adsense on the same page as long as Chitika is set to be non-contenxtual. Link to signup for Chitika Minimalls
