BuddyPress anyone?

By now you have surely read the news of the release of BudyPress 1.2 (which now will work with single WordPress.org blogs, previously limited to WordPress MU) and this dev blog announcement from Jane last evening about another plugin Andy wrote that lets you use your present theme with BuddyPress. I have always been of the opinion that this blog, its content, its collection of authors and most of all, its community of readers, is a prime candidate for BuddyPress. Having a common signup between comments, ratings, forums and blog posts would be a fantastic feature. This news is the first step in making those features a reality. We will start working on our test version of this blog very soon. Are you thinking about trying BuddyPress? What is your greatest concern in adding BuddyPress to your blog? BuddyPress, bbPress Integration Plugin Bug

Various tutorials on installing BuddyPress correctly and integrating bbPress with BuddyPress, make mention of a plugin called “WPMU Enable bbPress Cabpabilities” written by Michael Eagan. It simply adds a type of usermeta to the WPMU user tables for bbPress to pick up on. The plugin page says pretty clearly that this plugin is compatible with bbPress version upto 1.0-alpha-2. With the recent release of BuddyPress 1.0 and bbPress 1.0-alpha-6 (which has some very cool WordPress integration capabilities), this simple plugin developed a huge bug. Since it makes very little sense to release another version of this plugin, I wrote up a simple fix for it on our Community Forums. Speaking of our WLTC Community, we are up to 68 users who are actively making friends, posting on their blogs and writing up forum topics. BuddyPress 1.0 Has Arrived!!

BuddyPress 1.0 Has Arrived.: Andy announced the release of BuddyPress 1.0 on the BuddyPress community Blog and there was much rejoicing. This was an excellent opportunity to get my WLTC Community project off the ground and I was an like installation fiend as soon as I finished work on my day job. So without further ado, especially if you want to play around with BuddyPress, please head over to the shiny new WLTC Community and register for either a username or a blog.
