As of yesterday, WordPress 3.0 “Thelonious” is out of beta and ready to be installed! There is a lot to look forward to in this point oh version, including a whole bunch of new features, a whole new default theme called Twenty Ten, integration of WordPress MU and multiple blogs into WordPress (boy that seems like such a huge goal from just a few years ago to compete with MT) and a whole slew of bugfixes. The WordPress produced video is embedded below. This is a big one and I am really looking forward to having our team dive into the nitty gritty of this release as soon as possible. Six Revisions has an ultimate guide to the new features in WordPress 3.0, while Rohand Mehta tells us of the 10 features that he is looking forward to in WordPress 3.0. Google Living Stories Plugin for WordPress

Google News Blog: Bringing Living Stories to WordPress: Google is releasing their Living Stories experimental format as a plugin and a theme for WordPress.  Living Stories is an experimental news format from Google. In the form of a plugin, each Living Story would be a WordPress category with the plugin allowing a blogger to add the stories themselves. An example would be nice to see but none is to be found yet. Thanks to a writeup on ReadWriteWeb I would love to see an example blog or screenshots.

Best of WordPress, Blogging News

WordPress for iPhone OS 2.4.: WordPress for the iPad is now available, according to the WordPress for iPhone blog. The Automattic team has worked with Small Society to work on this new version. Find more details about the application at iphone.wordpress.org and also at the Next web writeup, which has some nice screenshots as well. Writing and editing posts along with streaming through comments and moderating them should be easier on this iPad version. I would love to hear some real world opinions on this product because it might make or break my desire to get myself another toy.

Back on January 22nd, Google notified its Blogger users that effective March 26th, support for publishing via FTP would be discontinued. This announcement prompted at least one individual who relied on this feature to switch from Blogger to WordPress. However, the journey from one platform to another presented some obstacles. Kent Newsome has published a six part series that describes the trials and tribulations of the move including export/import, file size limitations, retaining the URL structure, theme hacking, and more. Congrats to Kent for having a successful move and welcome to the WordPress community. Parts 1 and 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6

How to Create an Author Info Section in WordPress: Chris has put together a nice tutorial on how to create an author info section on your WordPress blog. I am sure you have seen these in the past on multi-author blogs. They normally tend to be displayed at thebottom of single posts and Chris provides details, code and styling for various features that can be added to this section.
