There’s no harm in trying this.

Wow, this is great. Thank you very much!

Yes, this plugin is great. There is another version of this available which also finds the exploit from the template!

    Thanks for the info.

Definitely will try this plugin out.

wordpress-firewall.seo plugin is highly recommended for SQL injections, etc.

Lockdown plugin is also quite good.

You just got a five star :) This is a very useful plugin as there are lots of “theme injection viruses” putting iframes in templates.
    Thanks!

This is an interesting post – I hadn’t thought about anti-virus for blogs before.

I was considering downloading and installing it until I saw on the wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ page that it was compatible up to WordPress version 2.7.1. As I have just upgraded to 2.8, I’m not sure I want to risk trying to install this plugin until it has been tested and updated for 2.8.

    Regards

    Glenn

    Wow, that’s cool.

This looks like another great tool to put in the arsenal.

Once I test it out (to see if it works with 2.8) I’m going to add this to the list of resources where I’ve outlined several security measures for hardening WordPress:

This plugin seems to be working fine with WP 2.8.

I don’t understand how this plugin will help, if the computer has anti-virus installed.

    • Keith Dsouza (82 comments.) says:

@Ryan – This plugin just provides a way to scan your themes and see if there are any problems with it.

It is not a replacement for your computer’s antivirus software, and also your antivirus software will not scan your blogs files, however it will protect you when something is being downloaded to your computer.

    Wow, this is cool.

Won’t this be similar to Security Scan plugin in a way?

Hi ! This is really grate plubing for all people who are serious about own blog. thanks for sharing this wonderful information.

  12. Carson (46 comments.) says:

If you’re not having a problem with viruses why would you want to slow down the loading of your pages by using this plug-in? I haven’t tried this one but anti-virus software generally adds a huge overhead. Sometimes it seems like Norton has taken over my computer.

    • Keith Dsouza (82 comments.) says:

@Carson – This plugin does not actually slow down your pages since it runs in the background if you choose to run daily scans, however you can also manually perform a scan which is pretty fast.

Wow… this is a good program. Thx for sharing… :)

This plugin actually works. To test it I installed a theme that is known to contain spam links in the footer through the use of obfuscated code. The obfuscated code even contains the eval function which can give someone remote access to one’s blog. After activating the theme I scanned it using the antivirus plugin and sure enough it cleared all files except footer.php giving multiple warning for the file.

I would encourage anyone to use this plugin along with the various firewall plugins that are available out there. I know someone whose blog kept getting hacked via sql injection attacks but after installing wp-firewall (free from seo egghead) the hacking stopped. This plugin in conjunction with that one would check for code that may have been left by a hacker after the infiltration.

What will happen after this plugin detecting malwares/viruses? Does this have a feature to remove viruses? It seems this plugin is nice to try..
