I had to look back at the archive for my blog to see when I switched to WP – June 2005. According to Ozh’s article it would have been WordPress 1.5!

I have tried others (various) since on test environments to see if they are better but just keep coming back to WP. I suspect it will be around on my blog for a long while yet!

My first WP is WordPress 2.0.2

  3. MrCorey (4 comments.) says:

I switched from b2evo (too much for a single blogger) to WordPress just as version 1.5 was being offered to the brave or foolish. I remember that the recommendations were to use 1.2, but I didn’t want to have to redo my template into a theme shortly after I switched, so I took the plunge and installed 1.5.

Since Jan 2007, which should be 2.1. My we’ve came a long way!

  5. Creeva (3 comments.) says:

    My first version was 2.3

I’ve used WordPress in beta, so I must have started with version 0.71.

Still don’t like that 2.3 — 2.7 don’t give me as much control over tags as I had previously , with the UTW-plugin.

And, I hardly ever use the backoffice, so its changes don’t affect me. I prefer to post from a client, like w.Bloggar.

    Around 1.5 :)

I think it was WP 2.3 or so when I started blogging on WordPress in October of last year. I do remember that GoDaddy was running about 2 versions behind and I kept waiting for them to upgrade. Then I discover that one of the benefits of a hosted blog was I could upgrade my site myself. Duh! I’ve stayed absolutely current since then, making the move to 2.7 two weeks ago with RC1. And I haven’t looked back.

I finally adopted WordPress at 1.5 and never looked back. I had tried Drupal, Mambo, Moveable Type and a few others and WordPress hit the mark. Since then, it has become better and better… I’ll be sticking around for a lot longer it looks like!

    wow, that’s a big change, isn’t it?
I started with 2.0 and I can’t say enough how much I love 2.7. Got to love the WordPress guys! Bring on 2.8!

I started using WordPress 1.5. I used a lot of different software but WordPress was it for me. I had no Trouble at all with WordPress so I started to promote WordPress under my friends en clients since then the number of WordPress site’s I maintain for clients is goings fast.

I first installed on September 12, 2003. That still would have been WP 0.7.1, wouldn’t it? Ahh the memories! I even still have a copy of my old b2config.php floating around somewhere.

I remember wordpress before they changed names, wasn’t it b2 before er something like that? Well in any case, I was a Moveable Type fan back in those days. I first started playing with WordPress back in the 1.0.1 days, but didn’t like it back then. I remember trying out 1.2, and 1.5, but never really got into it, because I was more of a MT fan back in those days.. I remember what drew me away from Six Apart, was the same thing that drew alot of users away from it, when 3.0 was released and when it was no longer “free” anymore. That pissed alot of people off, including myself, but because my bro in-law is such an MT fan, I stuck with it, until WP 2.0 was released. I think thats when I said to myself “six apart can go kiss it” when I had trouble getting thru to their support forums, when I was paying $100 for a subscription to the dang software, so once 2.0 came out, I ditched ‘em entirely, and switched to wordpress, and I haven’t once looked back since! :-) I don’t even know if my subscription to MT is still good anymore, but i don’t care, for I’m sticking to WP now and I’m not turning back :)

    I started with WordPress 1.2. August 2004.

I’d been running Greymatter, and a friend promoted Moveable Type on his blog. I wasn’t happy with Greymatter at all (it made blogging a real chore), so I tried installing MT, only I couldn’t get it to work. I stumbled across WordPress, got it running fairly quickly, and never looked back.

I discovered WP around version 2.5 and have not looked back, just keep looking forward.

  18. Dave Conrey (1 comments.) says:

I had a WP.com blog at the beginning of January 2007 for version 2.0, but as soon as 2.1 came out, I moved over to a self-hosted blog and except for the security patch scares and the shear displeasure of 2.5 redesign, it’s been great. I can’t imagine ever going to another platform.

  19. Christie (1 comments.) says:

Thanks for sharing this, I found it fun! I had never seen anything prior to 2.3 which I had for a long time before upgrading to 2.6.3 :) I am dying to get 2.7 but my plugins won’t work with it yet!

  20. Simrat (1 comments.) says:

Ah, I am a newbie. I just started with 2.3 and have upgraded to 2.7. I like it! I started a weblog in 2003 with html. WP is soooo much easier and more fun.

    ;)

I started using WP around version 1.5 and have loved it ever since. Even when it borked my database on an upgrade.

  22. Network Geek (21 comments.) says:

Wow, I didn’t realize I’ve been using WordPress for as long as I have! I started on 1.2, but only briefly before upgrading to 1.5, which came out shortly after I moved my blog from Moveable Type to WordPress. I converted just after my ex-wife made the move to B2Evolution and just before she left me. Crazy stuff.

  23. Paul Oyler (1 comments.) says:

Jumped on board in March of ’04, so it was 1.0.1
