There was a plugin competition of sorts held mostly on the wp-hackers mailing list on coming up with a plugin that would allow WordPress administration through the iPhone. WPhone has won WordPress iPhone Plugin Competition. Wphone Admin Plugin has its own page and forums and was put together by a collaborative venture between Stephane Daury, Doug Stewart and Viper007Bond. WPhone is available through the WordPress extend pages. Thanks Montreal Tech Watch.
Now, I didn’t even know about this competition! Bummer, iPhones aren’t shipping here till next year :/
Thanks for the plug! π
Viper007Bond: You are very welcome. Good job on the plugin!
I concur with Viper — thanks for the mention!
We’re all still a little giddy about winning…
@Mark: thks. π
@BoltClock: Funny thing is that D and V are in the States and going for the iPod prize, and I’m in Canada (no *official* service here either) and still going for the iPhone instead. I’m hoping for January though.
On another note, don’t give up yet: WPhone supports both a rich interface (iPhone/iPod for now) and a lightweight interface for all other devices. So I’d bet whatever mobile phone you have in Singapore would still let you use the plugin if you want to, as long as it has a web browser. I’ve been using the plugin on a 3 year old North American (don’t laugh…) Motorola v551 (aka pre-RAZR and all) so I can vouch for it. π
This is what WordPress is all about. Teamwork, great people, help all around and a little benefit for everyone. Good job Viper, Doug and Stephane!
@Stephane: So any phone with a suitable web browser would do the trick, eh (lol)? I guess I’ll try that soon. That really puts the ‘Phone’ in ‘WPhone’ (or something) π
@BoltClock: yup, it’s supposed to. But I just saw you Win Mobile 6 post on the forum, so maybe not all of them quite yet. Ooops. π
I wonder if there’s an emulator I can score for that platform, so I can troubleshoot. I doubt it would run on VMWare or so.
@myself: yes, turns out there is. π
