There are approximately ten days left in the Blogging Essay Competition and there have been two entries so far. A lot of people have been very helpful in reviewing these essays and many people have posted helpful comments and suggestions for the authors. However, we are still far shy of the ten entries required to judge the competition.
A couple of authors have expressed their concern for irking the wrath of readers or making mistakes in their commentary that they will later regret. I am sure that I am not the first to say that every blogger has made a mistake at one time or the other and paid dearly for it. I admit that I have made many of them but I have not let them stop me. The power is in accepting your mistake, correcting yourself and making change to ensure it does not happen again. I believe that is all part and parcel of this wondrous world of instant publication that we call blogging.
So where is your entry? Did I lose you entry in my hordes of spam or is the threat of a bad grade the only way to prompt essay production? Is the 1000 word minimum too daunting? Is the reward sum too paltry (I already know the answer to that)? Or is the fear of public scrutiny too much? Ante up people, its your turn to write and its our turn to read.
Frankly, Mark, it comes down to time and timing. We had only thirty days from the initial announcement. We’re coming into the holiday season. We’ve got a bunch of work to get done before vacation. Many of us are stacking a few extra posts up in the queue to cover our blogs while we do other things. Etc., etc., etc.
🙂 I know. I really should add real life to my list of possible hang ups.
I agree with ptvGuy, the timing is just rough for a lot of people.
Possibly consider extending it through January, which should give most people enough time to recover from the holiday season. 🙂

I’d enter, but I don’t have much to write about this particular subject. I think a lot of people are the same way.
I fourth (or fifth) ptvGuy’s comments. I have been working on an entry for the competition, but with shopping and vacations and shopping and work and more shopping and everything else, I have not been able to sit down at the computer for more than a few minutes at a time. Naturally, this has left me with a sub par article that is short of the minimum word count (I have about 700 or so). I really do think you should extend the deadline through January. Like most, I will have a lot more free time come the new year.
I just submitted my entry, but it was a struggle to reach 1000 words, I’m usually a “small post” blogger. It felt like I was back at school, adding padding to my homework to meet teacher’s requirements.
I agree with all the guys. Common, give us some time till January, i so wanted to be on this competition, but di not have time to sit down and start writing. So, maybe i’ll have some time in January?:)
