Excel Formulas: I use Excel almost everyday to produce numbers for the higher ups and the innovation of Excel programmers never ceases to amaze me. Here is a formula to count the total number of times a certain character shows up in a string. High level programming has me so caught up in functions that this simple trick evaded me completely. Internet Explorer Developer Toolbar Beta: Finally!! I have used the Firefox Developers toolbar forever and could not imagine a day without it. I am just installing the IE toolbar as I write this. Since most of my professional work is destined for IE users, this can be quite the boon. I will post my thoughts on this after I have driven it around and kicked the tires for a couple of days. Windows “Live” Software Lots of news coming out this morning from Microsoft press conferences and demo’s. Very mixed reactions ranging from “this sucks” to “this might be cool enough to watch very closely”. You judge for yourself. This is the link to the “Live Ideas” page from Microsoft. Lots of AJAX, does not work well with Firefox (yet?).
