In trying to drum up some more interest in the WordPress Plugin and Mod Competition I would like to start a meme for WordPress Plugins.
What plugins do you use on your blog and how do you rate them?
Sadly for me, most of the plugins that I use are written by me and so I have the astute pleasure of critiquing my own work.
- Blacklist Peering Plugin – Share my blacklist and moderation keywords. 7 out of 10. Really useful, needs some interface and functions enhancements
- Click Counter – Remnant of my original hack for WordPress 1.2, tweaked to work with WordPress 1.5 Quite “hacky”, fast and useful, already made into a plugin by a couple of people. 3 out of 10
- Threaded comments – Again, remnants of a WordPress 1.2 hack, tweaked not (not) work with WordPress 1.5 Worked really well with the original code, really broken now, needs tender loving care. 0 out of 10
- Staticize – From Matt, in turn from Bill Zeller, in times of extreme stress on WordPress. I turn it on and off on an as needed basis. Great (!!) plugin. 9 out of 10.
- Related – I wrote this with impetus and some code from Anne. Spits out content related previous posts on a permalinked page. Good plugin that gets a lot of use. 6 out of 10.
- Custom Search page – Same as above, but this search is intelligent with an indication of how close the results are to the searched items. 7 out of 10
- Narchives – Bad name, stuck badly to this hack originally for WordPress 1.2 Creates a custom archives page that is sortable. 8 out of 10
Ummmm…thats it, everything else is taken care of by the defualt WordPress install. To follow and propagate this meme, just create a similar list on your blog with a trackback to this post. What other plugins and/or mods would you like to use?
In WordPress Competition news, Carthik has donated to the competition and a huge thank you goes out to him. Did you donate yet? PS: Donations to not have to be money, they could be anything under the sun that someone could enjoy. If you have some iTunes gift certificates lying around… 🙂
Here’s my post. Good idea, this one. I’d like to see what people are using.
