thanks for the information it very helping
While some disagree with my setup of Akismet, I find that by automatically discarding spam comments made on posts that are older than 3 months has drastically reduced the count in my queue. I’ve also implemented the idea that after a period of time, comments for posts are automatically closed which also helps.
I totally agree Jeff. My Akismet is set up the same way.
I like this WordPress for Beginners idea, this would help all those newbies out there to get started.
Good job.
@Roseli Glad you liked the idea, I will be covering many more topics that will help out people who are starting out with WordPress and other users too
Very nice in-depth article. I’ll be linking to this post shortly, thanks for providing the great info.
Some of the basic things we can do to help protect our blogs from spam are so obvious, yet us old pros take these steps for granted and sometimes forget to pass on this simple knowledge. Thanks for keeping us grounded!
useful article, thanks
I have installed this plugin for my wordpress blog and i recommended to other friends. It really blogs spam comments.
Akismet sometimes over reacts so it is still nice to have a quick scan of comments on your akismet spam folder before deleting it.
But I agree, Akismet by far is the most nice anti spam plugins.
yess… i used akisme plugin to my wordpress blog. it can filter almost all of the spam. beside that i have change dofollow become nofollow to stop the spammer and it work.
by the way this is very nice posting article. i’m very like to read it. now i’m bookmarking yours for next visit thanks
I have started my third blog, and quite frankly I had forgotten to actually check if I properly configured the plugin. So busy scrambling to find the my key code I know I didn’t look at the settings. thanks this beginner tips is actually needed by all. thank you
visit u back
Akismet is one such plugin without which I can’t even think of writing a single post.. Else every day I will be spending most of the time on cleaning my blog from spam bots
I’m still unsure about the “Check for Spam” button. What does “check” mean here? When I clicked it, it didn’t seem to check anything, it just removed the comment.
I just read the “Hint: A single WordPress.com API will work for multiple blog installations”. Disappointed to know that. I have set up a new one for each WP installation !@#$%%^&*()!#$
Me too – I’ve always created a new WP account for my blogs to get the unique API key – nice to know I don’t need to do that any more.
