Matt Mullenweg #14 most influential on the web - BusinessWeek.: According to BusinessWeek, Matt Mullenweg is one of the 25 most influential people on the web. He shares the accolade with the likes of Steve Ballmer, Steve jobs, Joi Ito and Jon Stewart. At first I thought that this was a ranking much like the 50 most important people of the web from PC World but this appears to be more of a collection. Matt is labelled as “The Publisher” and WordPress as “the blogging service that most serious bloggers turn to”.
The associated article is more about how the web is magnifying the influence of jon Stewart and others like him in engaging the American Public in online discourse about the political campaigns. Be sure to check out the whole slide show.

Being ahead of Rupert Murdoch was nice - but I think it’s just alphabetical order.
I don’t think people within the 25 are ranked.

Matt (11 comments.) — 09/29/2008 @ 5:48 pmI personally like to congratulate Matt, but it wouldn’t be as successful without the Automattic team behind him.
I don’t think it is a rank, because everyone has received a different title.

Chetan (13 comments.) — 09/30/2008 @ 2:26 amMatt was recently at WordCamp in Utah and had a lot of stuff to say about the upcoming 2.7 WordPress release. There’s a good writeup here: http://www.bestofthewebhosts.com/wordcamp.php - the info about the new mini social networks sounds interesting as well as a number of their in house projects that aren’t necessarily WordPress.
