I guess I shouldn’t have been in such a big hurry to post about WPBlacklist 2.01 in the previous post because 2.5 is ready and has been just released :p The new release adds automatic deletion of comments marked as spam and allows you to select which items are automatically deleted. Not only that, if you select the option, the new plugin will also e-mail you with full details of the automatically deleted comments. A full description of the new features can be read in this blog entry and you can download the new release from here.
If you install the new release, be sure to read the included readme.txt file to find out how to upgrade or at least run the Installer link under the plugin description on the Plugins tab of your WP control panel after you install the plugin. The installer has to be run even for upgrade installs so as to ensure that the blacklist table structure is updated – your existing data will be left intact.
Thought I’d let you know, just installed the plugin – it’s not working at all for me right now. I’m still getting a ton of comment spam (which all started a day or so ago, interestingly enough) that I can’t seem to get rid of. Is there another setting in wordpress that needs to be set someplace? Any conflict with some other plugin?
Thanks!
Jason
