WPHonors Winners Announced

The winners of the WPHonors awards have been announced today by WPCandy.com. WPHonors has been compared to the Oscars but for WordPress. The site has a handful of categories ranging from best theme framework to best commercial plugin to best community member. It was neat to see WPTavern as well as Weblog Tools Collection.com added to the finals for voting despite our non attempt at getting votes/nominated. The one thing that did stand out regarding the final votes is that Joost De Valk would have walked away with three categories if it were not for the rule limiting the winner to one category. The winners get bragging rights and the claim to be part of the best of 2010. Congrats to wall who won.

We’re Not Done Voting Yet

While the U.S. Presidential election has come and gone, there are still plenty of things to vote for such as WordPress Ideas. WordPress Ideas is used as a central location where users of WordPress from all across the world share their ideas on how to improve the software, plugins to integrate, etc. At this time, the idea of Easy Updating Of WordPress leads the pack with 910 votes and a rating of five stars. As it turns out, this will be one of the features in WordPress 2.7 known as Core Upgrade. Next on the list is Open ID Integration. Although there are plenty of plugins that easily provide this functionality, considering the amount of steam the idea has, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it in a future version of WordPress. Webware has opened up voting on the 2008, Webware 100. This is Webwares annual awards program where users from all across the globe get to vote on their favorite Web 2.0 apps. Last year, WordPress took the honors of winning the Publishing category. This year, WordPress is in the running for the Publishing & Photography category, along with a few other big names. Voting will run until March 31. Winners will be announced on April 21, the day before the big Web 2.0 Expo opens. To vote, click on this link and scroll down to the bottom of the website until you see WordPress. Click on the VOTE button on the right hand side.
