Link Cosmos and rel=”nofollow”

If you are using the Technorati Link Cosmos using PHP then links that this tag generates will be counted by Search engines as being valid – which they may well be. But if a spammer sets up a blog, and links to you, you will be counted as providing a valid link. You might not want that to happen. The altered script can be grabbed here: http://www.tamba2.org.uk/downloads/cosmos.phps It won’t remove the link and it’s not ideal as you are tarring all links with the same brush, but it will make the spammers link useless for pagerank purposes.

WordPress Smartphone Client: The author has written a .NETCF client for smartphone using C# that can: Create new posts Edit existing posts Get user info Retrieve user blogs Now thats a cool toy! I wonder if I can hack in support for enclosures and natively support podcasts? At this time, the client is in development but will get a GUI soon and the author claims that it works on PocketPC. It uses the MetaWeblog API and the xmlrpc .dll files used are from Cook Computing.

WP: Archive by Date

Mark produced Sortable Nicer Archives for WordPress but sometimes people don’t want the sortable part – a list will do. So due to a request in the WP forums, I’ve taken out the code that gets in the way for that, and made it just list by date. Can be seen working here in the latest WP build: http://www.tamba2.org.uk/T2/willitwork.php Download file: http://www.tamba2.org.uk/downloads/date_archive1point3.phps Download file (for 1.2 versions) http://www.tamba2.org.uk/downloads/date_archive1point2.phps Credit: Mark Any mistakes: Me 🙂

WPBlacklist 2.8 is out. What’s new? Basically, a few new features that people were missing – such as the ability to check comments already held for moderation (maybe because the comment already had too many links or because you moderate all comments) against the WPBlacklist blacklist :p Before this, people setting all comments to be moderated were out of luck if they wanted to use the auto-deletion feature of WPBlacklist since the plugin would either delete all comments held for moderation (if you checked the deleted comments held for moderation outside of WPBlacklist option) or simply hold everything and not check the comments against the blacklist. This has now been fixed. In addition to this, I’ve also added the option to harvest data for the blacklist from comments found via the search feature and made a few minor enhancements. One major bug fixed was the inclusion of code to check […]

Mozdev Filemanager

Mozdev Filemanager: This is a very cool little tool for Mozilla family of browsers. The code is finally LGPL and can be used as part of a project. Inclusion of something like this in the admin of ANY blogging or CMS project would be fantastic. A couple of key features which are incredibly useful. Browsing files and folders using tree and list controls Copying and moving files and folders using tradditional copy/cut/paste operations Built-in text editor I have been using an ASP and ActiveX based upload download manager with lesser functions for a partial CMS that we are working on at my day job. Some concerns I have about FileManager: Browser Security: Will there be glaring holes that might need to be patched? Since the code has been around for a while, this might be moot Server Security: How will the variety of host OSes deal with files created/uploaded by […]
