New referrals for Google Pack and Picasa you can now refer your users to Google Pack and Picasa. You’ll earn up to $2 for each time a user installs Pack and up to $1 for each Picasa install. Google really wants to get into your computer. I have not installed Google Pack (and do not intend to do so) but for those without virus protection, Google does seem to offer a 6 month subscription to Norton Antivirus 2005. Are you installing Google Pack?

Essays on Mass Media: The next big thing in 1448 was a technology called “movable type”, invented for commercial use by Johannes Gutenberg, a goldsmith from Mainz (although the Chinese had thought of it first). Nice series of essays from The Economist. I really had no idea that “movable type” was used in the past (though I should have known from science education).

Software tracks mood swings of blogosphere: Software that tracks mood swings across the ‘blogosphere’ and pinpoints the events behind them could provide more insightful ways to search and analyse the web. Not really, since the software only looks at Livejournal blogs which does not account for all of the blogosphere and they seem to have made life easy for themselves by looking at the “mood” labels from Livejournal. I thought this would be some sort of intelligent software that could start to fathom the actual mood of the blogosphere like Internet Traffic report (in its own arena of course).
