The impending release of WordPress 3.6 has been pushed back one more week to April 29.

At this time, WordPress 3.6 is not yet feature complete (meaning that all intended new features have not been entirely finished), so the decision was made to push the first beta release back two weeks to March 27 and the final release back one week to April 29. This will allow the team time to focus on finalizing the in-progress new features so that they (and the brave folks who enjoy running beta software) can simply focus on testing and bug fixing rather than polishing up partial features.

  1. How can WordPress 3.6 can be delayed? Very bad news as wordpress 3.5 has lots of security bugs.

    • James says:

Security fixes are not withheld for the major branch releases, like 3.6, they are immediately provided via maintenance updates, like 3.5.1.

If you are encountering a security issue with WordPress 3.5, first update to WordPress 3.5.1 (which you should be running already as it includes 3 important security fixes). If you are encountering a security issue with WordPress 3.5.1, please report it following this guide.

      Hey Karan,

You don’t need to be in a haste. Just like James has said, It is been delayed because they want to make sure that all the necessary features are been fixed and intact.

WordPress is the best blogging software when it comes to blogging. So am really impresses by the new wordpress 3.6, because I know that it will make blogging easy.

So let’s wait patiently and watch out for April 29.

I am pretty excited to see what kind of new features they are adding this time around. I have been using ubermenu and it has some cool stuff.

  3. There seem to be lot of issues with latest version of WordPress 3.5.1 also. I was hoping 3.6 it would be out soon by the end of March’13. One of the most annoying things is that the post and page updates are lost sometimes.
