WordPress 2 for iPhone is now available for downloads in the App Store. The new app is packed with lots of features which include:

  • A new, more efficient user interface that makes it faster to switch between comments, posts, and pages.
  • Various user interface refinements and bug fixes
  • New Comments interface, with Gravatars and the author URL shown in the comment list
  • Passwords are now stored in the keychain
  • Posts are now automatically saved and restored if network connection is lost during publishing
  • Added persistence, so the app re-opens in the blog you last used
  • Added an interface for manually entering the XMLRPC endpoint for non-standard setups
  • Fixed rotation-related visual glitches
  • Fixed errors where malformed XML prevented access to XMLRPC endpoint
  • Fixed edge case where local drafts were sometimes not saved
  • Fixed the order of photos so that they’re displayed in the order they’re uploaded/

Please note: The WordPress for iPhone 2 is a completely new application. If you are using a older version of WordPress app for iPhone, you will not be able to upgrade it, you will have to download the new application instead. You can safely remove the older version of the app, once you have installed version 2.0.

I installed WordPress 2 in my iPhone yesterday. Is it just me or anyone else also find it hard to add more than 1 blog? I get this Communication Error.

I was able to add these blogs to WordPress app 1st version. Frustrating 🙁

This brings up an interesting question, could wordpress develop a standalone offline application for writing posts? For people still using dialup, something like this would be a must. Alot of people use such a program developed by 3rd party companies, but couldn’t wordpress develop its own? That would really help alot

    • Keith Dsouza says:

Hey @bubazoo I am sorry but I don’t think that it would help, first of all, wouldn’t it be easier to just login to WordPress Admin to write posts.

I do agree that the app does do away with a lot of things including but a proper solution would be an option to run a barebone admin that simulates the iPhone app to work on lower end connections.

And pardon me, but does anyone use dialup anymore?

Love the new WordPress iPhone app … job well done!

  4. ZKWC says:

How do you use dial-up on an iPhone. So confused!

    Great technology benchmark from wordpress!

It’s a great feature that I can use my iPhone and continue following my favorite blog sites. Now, I can review my current blogs with just a touch on the screen of my iPhone.

How did I miss this earlier ?? Download WordPress 2.0 right now. A better comment management system alone would be worth the upgrade.
