WordPress Helper Firefox Extension.: An extension for Firefox that adds a bunch of automated and manual features to the right click contextual menu in Firefox.

Available features include the following:

  • Categorized Access to WordPress Help pages (WordPress Codex)
  • Search for highlighted text strings on websites
  • One-Click-switch to a website’s WordPress backend
  • Update Notification on new WordPress versions
  • Website Profiles
  • Custom Shortcuts
  • Various preference settings

There has been active development on this extension since April of this year with good documentation of progress and the author is taking suggestions from users for future uses/features of the extension. Although many of these actions can be performed with shortcuts or other tools within Firefox, this extension puts it all into one place at easy reach of the Firefox user. The original developers’ page is in German but the linked page should be the English version.

[EDIT] Sorry, link fixed. Thanks for the heads up.

Um…what linked page? Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t see a link to it anywhere in this post? Is my browser just fooling me?

    Where is the link?

  3. JTD says:

Um… either I’m totally missing it, or you forgot the actual link. 🙂 Should be https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4835

  4. Nice idea, but not compatible with the forthcoming Firefox 3.1. I tried it with 3.1b1.

    Peace,

  5. Hi and thanks for this, I have downloaded it but must still try it out.

Gene – did you maybe contact the author of the add-on?

  6. Alphawolf says:

Gene, thanks for the hint. The plugin itself is compatible with FF 3.1, but I couldn’t tell FF yet. When I released my latest version, I was only able to set 3.1b1pre1 at maxVersion. I’ll change this ASAP.

    Cheers.

Not very good, IMO. Unfortunate, really.

I tried to set up my blog — it couldn’t find the admin section. (That setting makes no sense — instead of “how deep is it” the setting should maybe just ask you the URL???)

Anyway, there’s not much there that can’t be replaced with a menu of bookmarks in the links toolbar.
