I needed a *quick* and *simple* method to embed YouTube videos into my posts and wrote a small plugin to do just that. This way you do not need to find the embed code from YouTube or do anything special. You just copy the URI of the YouTube video and paste it into the body of your post. This has been tested with 2.3.x and 2.2.x and it works on both. I can add other video and media embed ability if there is request or demand.
Installation is simple. Download the zip file, unzip, copy to your wp-content/plugins directory and enable. Then test by copying and pasting a YouTube URI into a post and publishing it. Thats it!
Download Plugin: Embedify 1.02 (update)
Please leave comments, feedback and requests.
[EDIT] Please do not do anything with the URI. If you align it or make a clickable link out of it, the plugin will break. Expect a fix for that soon. Fixed. Still some bugs with Internationalization, but those will wait till I get more information.
This didn’t work for me. I right click the empty area where the video should appear, and it says “Movie not loaded” and below that it says “Adobe Flash Player”.
What makes this better or more functional than Vipers Quick Video Tags plugin? http://wordpress.org/extend/pl...../#post-810 Although I do like the idea behind it.
Okay not it’s working, but it’s left some weird code under the video.
go here and look for yourself:

Kristopher: Try removing the the link to the video. Just paste the URI without making a link out of it.
Jeff: It is cleaner and does not need any special tasks to embed a video, copy, paste and you are done.
Does this plugin works on RSS Feeds? Viper Quick Video Tags doesn’t.
Hi, Mark, I love the idea, but the plugin doesn’t work for me. Nothing appears but a ‘#8230;’ text than overwrite the list of the On This Day Plugin at the end of the post.
Forget it. I’ve just found the bug. It was atthe ‘&’ symbol in the lines of the ‘$content’. I’ve changed it with ‘&’ and now it’s allright. Maybe a character encoding problem?
mmeida: I added some fixes. Could you try downloading the plugin again? Thanks
Low: Yes, it is enabled for RSS as well, but the reader must have the ability to display the embed.
I’ve downloaded the version 1.02, but I’ve got the same problem. I’ve changed again the ‘&’ (now two) with ‘&’, and it works fine.
I use EasyTube (http://www.ejump.co.uk/wordpre.....wordpress/) which does just this (and only this) and is, in fact, easy
sounds cool!thanks!
Please add gametrailers.com videos!
Mark, it’s good to see plugins on WTC, by WTC 🙂
I had the same problem awhile back, but I needed a bit more functionality after the initial easy embedding. I ended up modding the EasyTube plugin and added the ability to feature the latest video in your sidebar 🙂 Quick, easy, and powerful.

I´ll also vote for adding gametrailers.com videos to the embedify plugin.
and if possible, wmv, avi and mp3 files as well. That way I don´t have to use two plugins like I do now.
I just use the embed tag in the regular WordPress editing window and it seems just fine. Is this plugin meant for GUI editing?
Thanks for sharing this Mark, I’ve tested it out in my sandbox.
Mark, as a suggestion — perhaps post a video here as well, so we can see what the code will look like (whether it’ll validate, for example). I have a plug-in that handles videos, but I had to modify it extensively to get the generated code to validate. This is a simple concern only, but one that many will want to consider.
Hi, I’ve noticed that the plugin adds a white border to the left and right of my FLV movie. Is there a way to avoid that?
Thank’s for sharing it.
Çelik Kap?
Easy Tube works like a champ:

After installing, on our blog we simply do this:
[youtube:URL]
