BackupMyBlog: Daily, remote, PHP and MySql based blog backup solution. At this time they are running a free beta but it sounds like it will be a paid service. You could easily do this daily with wp-backup and wp-cron but remote backups might be a better solution for you. Maximum space allowed is 10 MB (which would not work for larger blogs). Anyone have any experience with them?

  1. Thanks for the post about BackupMyBlog.

10 MB is the backup space allowed per user during the beta but that is the total compressed size. BackupMyBlog uses an efficient internal backup format (not a SQL dump) which when combined with the compression lets you store a lot of blog data. As we gain more users with larger blogs I’ll include some summary stats to show how big of a blog it can backup.

  2. Nice idea - however 10mb is far too small for any more than a few copies of a db, even for a lightweight one. If they made it 100mb then it might be a useful tool.

  3. Well I signed up for it, I figure that the experience through the beta will give me some indication of how well it works. Yes 10MB seems small, but for the individual blogger, it should be adequate for starters, though I would assume the final service will have different size storage options available.

  4. This looks very promising! And I LOVE the fact that the site is based on a template by my favorite web designer, Andreas Viklund! I am a big enough fan to try out BackupMyBlog just because of that… :)

Doug, have you told Andreas about BackupMyBlog? He usually links to good sites that uses his templates so you could get lots of free advertising from him!!
