Adsense featured Wordpress theme 10comments

If you like this post, please subscribe to our RSS feed to read our new posts every day.

Tim Yang and Ozh have released Problogger Clean, a clean 3 columns theme with original features mostly aimed towards Adsense.

Options are managed from an admin panel (using Wordpress Theme Toolkit) which gives the theme a lot of functionalities and customization possibilities.

The theme comes with built-in ads, so you won’t have a hard time trying to implement ads in a theme that was not designed for it. Its feature I like best : “Adsense Click Safety“, which prevents any click you could make on your own ads to be recorded, therefore to be counted as fraudulent.

Redirect Old Slugs Plugin 2comments

Redirect Old Slugs is a WordPress plugin that allows you to change the post slug on published entries without breaking the old permalinks. So if you published a post with the slug this-is-my-post-slug and decided to change it to post-slug all links pointing to the old one would magically be forwarded to the new location. Anyone who has ever made a spelling error in a post title knows how useful this will be!

  • HOW-TO: Using SVN to keep your WordPress Blog up-to-date

HOW-TO: Using SVN to keep your WordPress Blog up-to-date Use statically linked binaries for SVN and cron jobs to install and update your blog to the most up-to-date release of WordPress. Thanks to Robert Deaton for helping me with the same. [EDIT] While you are reading this article, please, please keep in mind that Forum support does not cover SVN. In other words, if you decide to use the bleeding edge code on your blog and have problems with the code, you probably will not receive help from the forums. (6)

Annoyances: QuickTime and iTunes 40comments

I find it quite irritating that I have to install iTunes if I want to install QuickTime on my computer. Thankfully, it can be uninstalled seperate from QuickTime, but I did not think that Apple had to resort to such techniques to get people to use their software. I use iTunes on my desktop at home but would rather keep it off my laptop. Is that too much to ask?

  • Some awesome code

Some awesome code from “cake” of brothercake. Not sure of their real name but in looking through their AJAX “Docking Boxes” (which is being used in Wordpress development) I found a bunch of other scripts and helpers that are quite cool. I just wish I could find an implementation of docking boxes using AJAX that would allow movement in both axes, much like Google. [EDIT] Found one from Tim Taylor (1)
  • 10 Most Powerful Women in Blogging

10 Most Powerful Women in Blogging : Joi Ito of Technorati (http://joi.ito.com ) has her hands in a lot of Web 2.0 companies, some you might not even know about yet. This makes her damn powerful. Often times the one you don’t know that well is the most powerful. My personal favorite because she seems to help people get shit done. I am still not sure whether this was meant as a joke, to look like an ass, just pure oversight or it was simple lack of research. (1)
