I was pretty sure WordPress was going to win this year. WordPress is very healthy and fit as CMS right now and its UX is far more better than other competing ones.

I’m truthfully not all that surprised but glad that WordPress won. They have done a lot of continued development on functionality and is a very powerful content management system. I’m using it on a variety of properties and have had significant results. I agree with the above, the user experience is a lot better than other platforms like Blogger.

Congrats to WordPress. They have bridged the gap for newbies and web pros. So since they won the Hall of Fame award, are they not eligible for future win?

Sweet! Here at the Pew Research Center we are using WordPress for two of our 7 sites: pewglobal.org and pewsocialtrends.org We’re running a single install in multisite mode and hope to bring the other sites onboard in the near future.

The biggest reason we liked WordPress so much was that it was easy to use, extendable, and all around just a joy to use.

Big Canadian social network Alberta Stars is being redone as we speak to run on WordPress with BuddyPress. I’m involved in beta testing and cannot reveal the URL of the test site yet, but this will be a major showcase of what WordPress can do once redone. It will be huge

Drupal is Drupal > WordPress is WordPress

I remember posts like: “using wordpress as CMS” ….. WP it always been.

By a focus error, something normal 5 years ago, Matt Mullenweg call it a blog platform.

That’s another story.

I would like to know who was the “extra independent judge”.

A little late to comment here, I love WP but to be a true CMS core support for multiple content blocks is a must.

Personal i prefer Joomla due the fact of thousands of plugs. Worpress looks most of the time like a “Worpress” Blog. Drupal i think is even more powerful than all of them but it not that easy to learn. Anyways gratulations to Worpress.

This is great to see. My initial attraction to WP was its ability to serve as a CMS, as well as a top-notch blogging machine. I am glad to see it validated as a great CMS.
