High School bans Blogging Officials at Proctor Jr.-Sr. High School have banned access from school computers to an Internet site that students have been using to post to weblogs or blogs. I was wondering how popular blogging would have to get before it gets banned from high schools?

WP Plugin: Cat2Tag Add categories on the fly. The beauty of this plugin is that you actually are using the category structure as the tags or in other words, it let you create new categories on-the-fly when you are writing a new post. I know that I personally will have a lot of use for this, though then it would be easy to get carried away with creating categories.

Newsmashing – The new technique that will change blogging forever (sic) I don’t know about changing blogging, but it would be very useful to be able to post screenshots of an article/page on the internet with sticky notes, drawings and other annotation added on the fly by a web based software or an inline editor. Moveable Type InlineEditor 1.0 Hot along the tracks of WordPress comes the Moveable Type inline editor. Though this is not a WYSIWYG editor, it lets you edit your posts directly on the page you are viewing. Arvind argues that you can add all the WYSIWYG stuff directly into the PHP plugin.

I had noticed a considerable slowdown in this blog sometime ago and had not been able to track down the cause for this slowdown. I had tried a variety of different things including breaking down the database into small portions and the code into more sizeable chunks to try and isolate what was causing the slowdown (including all kinds of optimization/repair techniques). I remembered this morning that I had installed Spam Karma to test it and had since uninstalled it. However, I had not realized that Spam Karma had created a fulltext index of the comments table and I had not removed that index. Adding to the problem was the feature of WordPress 1.5 that stores all spam comments.
