Ladies and Gentlemen, Hot in the heels of Alex’s extremely popular WordPress 1.5 Themes Competition, I would like to announce the start of the WordPress Plugin and Mod Programming Competition. I would like to make the pot REALLY sweet and promote a LOT of really good development and generate lots of new ideas (stressing on the new). In doing so, I am seeking commercial support from interested parties in exchange for “sponsorship” ads. WP Hack: Comment Bubble Make the comments link in your WordPress blog look like small “thought bubbles” with a dynamic number inserted into the bubble. Inspired by Mail.app in MacOSX and pretty darn cool in my opinion. Lots of possibilities there!

WP Plugin: WP-Exec The name does not do it justice. This plugin, once activated, allows a user to add all kinds of supported tags from WordPress into your pages/posts. In simpler terms, you can add all installed plugins as an executed list like so: <exec type=”function” name=”displayPluginsAsTable” /> Very reminiscent of Smarty templating and very useful for the casual blogger looking to make use of WordPress’ powerful infrastructure. I will definitely have to look into this one.
