I personally had no idea that there were secret conversations going on and am delighted to know that people are paying attention to the competition. In plugin competition news, we now have enough money to buy the Sony PSP after all (short a score or so plus shipping, which I will gladly contribute). This long(ish) article is succintly written and quite a good read. …”the process of creating blogs that are rich with quality journalism is also a commercial challenge; one that will re-shape the blogosphere as we move out of an initial period of amateur enthusiasm to create a more mature and sustainable medium. While the article tries to look at blogging from a finance and journalistic point of view, the smattering of numbers and charts could be organized better with more flesh and less fodder.

Sparkline PHP Graphing Library: PHP and GD graphing library that generates really cool (and sometimes very useful) inline graphs. The code is free, realtively lightweight and produces “intense, simple, wordlike graphics”. Check out the CVS and frontpage for ideas. Thanks Adam

WP Plugin: SimpleLink New version 0.3 with newer features. This plugin makes it easy to create links of any kind including easy Flickr, Amazon, Google, image and special text styled links. Cool.

WP Plugin: AutoSave Have you ever written a post in WordPress and then completely lost it due to your own fault or that of the computer? I know I frequently will start writing a post, receive an email, click on a link on the email and then completely lose the post that I was working on. This might be the answer to a lot of my blog writing headaches. Of course, this can only be used in WordPress for now. Wonderful plugin that is surely a lifesaver!
