Weblog-Software Benchmark II Wordpress, Textpattern, Serendipity and Lightpress compared in this apachebench generated set of results. A fair amount of work went into this analysis and it is worth a read through. As a word of caution, unless your blog is under extreme pressures such as a very weak server or a very high load, the difference in speeds of various blogging programs should not be noticeable.

CSS style for your WP RSS Feed: Very clever tutorial to add CSS to your WordPress feed. I personally tend to stay away from prettying an RSS feed since I think it weakens the medium and we are back to reducing standards with added CSS that will be interpreted differently by the various browser engines used by news readers. This is a fun tutorial nonetheless.

My first post EVER on a blog was back in and around March 2003 but I had lost a few months of posts in an upgrade somehow. I vaguely remember writing about a cool new blogging tool that I liked, added some stuff about SlashDot and then rambled on about how I might get used to writing on a blog. I had always loved to write and typing was so much easier than pen and paper. I had just started taking classes for my Masters degree in computer science and I figured that this would be a good way to get my arms around some programming projects. The ABC’s of Wordpres Plugins: This post MUST have taken a long time to put together! [EDIT] Astute readers have pointed out that the list is originally from mundogeek.net and a quick look-see shows that it is simply a copy and paste with no regard for the Creative Commons. WP Theme: 3 Column Relaxation Three column version of the Relaxation theme with Flickr photos on the third column. Quite soothing with lots of pictures. This would make a nice theme for a personal blog.
