I have noticed a few issues with Pictorialis II that I would like to address. – The display of thumbnails inside an album was a little weird. The pictures would overlap in some cases and vertical alignment was very poor. That is cleared up in this version and the positioning is much better – The ability to add pictures to an album after it was posted was shaky at best. This has been cleaned up so now you can add an album, wait for a few days and then add pictures singly to that album at your leisure and directly from your browser. – As promised, the NetPBM binaries needed for Pictorialis II is ready for download. Better archives permalinks in WordPress 1.2

I had a request on #wordpress to be able to use http://yourblog.com/blog/archives/cat_name/ as a category permalink instead of the default WordPress way of http://yourblog.com/blog/archives/category/cat_name/ and I think I might have come up with a way to modify your htaccess to do just that. Set your permalink template as: /archives/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/ Set your cat archives prefix as: /archives and use this file as your htaccess (or copy the contents to your htaccess) after replacing every instance of “blog” with the foldername of your blog. If you do not have your blog in a folder (installed into the root of your website) then remove every instance of blog/ in the following file. http://weblogtoolscollection.com/b2-img/cat_htaccess.txt

Post in multiple languages using WordPress

I saw a really nice plugin at No Prerequisite blog. This plugin allows people to post in more than one language on their blogs using WordPress. This has been written in the form of a plugin. From No Prerequisite The Language Picker Plugin is my personal solution for writing posts in more than one language. When activated, the plugin will display posts in either the default language (as configured in lang_picker.php) or in the visitor’s preferred language, if available.
