This is for future reference. If you are getting a 500 internal server error for your cgi-bin, have all the permissions set right and are using Plesk (or any other suexec virtual apache platform) the following command might be your answer. SSH in and type the following: chown root:apache /usr/sbin/suexec That should resolve most of the uid/gid mismatch issues and the 500 internal server issues. The technical explanation is that suexec runs the calling program as the owner/group that the suexec program is saved under and apache will run most scripts with a suexec (in a virtual server environment) to sanity check script execution and prevent malicious scripters. Plesk will sometimes save this file under the wrong credentials. Thus the headaches.

After trying out all the entries in the competition, I have decided to use the graphics submitted by Albert Tanutama for weblogtoolscollection.com. The header that you see on top will stay there, albeit with a few modifications. I will be adding the other graphics, favicons etc as soon as I get a chance. Thanks to everyone for participating. Work has been tremendously busy and draining lately which has taken away from my personal work. As a forewarning, this blog might be experiencing some hiccups in the next week or so as I make some internal changes. Thank you for your patience and continued partonage.

Burningbird >> Porting WP to MT: Template Tips: Shelley is making good headway into the porting process, but this time from WordPress to Movable Type. In this article, she talks about the templates for the two tools and how they relate to each other (or not). She is using the export from WordPress script from PapaScott: Very interesting and very useful code. I understand that Carthik is working on an XML version (lossless) of this export script. This would also become a very powerful backup tool for those interested.

I have started testing the graphics from the competition to see how they look on the blog and see what people think. They will be done in order of submission and since there aren’t that many, this should be relatively painless. This first one comes from OF Jay, the first entry in the competition.

Though an off topic post, Carthik is a dear friend and a great WordPresser, so I think this is appropriate. My thoughts and prayers are with Carthik. He goes to school at the University of Central Florida and is preparing for the tropical storm Frances. I wish him luck and hope that he comes out of this natural disaster unscathed. Same goes for the millions of other Floridians. This has been a tough year for them.
