Blogroll Ad Network Where it really gets interesting is that the bloggers who opt into the program don’t just earn dollars but also a rotating link to their site in a special Sponsored Blogroll box that sits right on the Washington Post home page. There is a thought. Everyone wins (for the most part) beside the reader who gets to see more ads.

I was away at my honeymoon and internet connections from Jamaica suck (at least from the Sandals resort in Whitehouse). There was some awry code coupled with persistent spammers that caused havoc. My heartfelt thanks to Carthik for trying very hard to fix things, I just could not get to the right tools in time and he did not have enough access credentials. Everything should be back to normal. Thanks for your patience and to everyone that wrote in to report problems. In other news, I hear Wordcamp was a rip-roaring success. I almost thought about it once this past week while I was zoning out on a float in the massive pool next to the swim up bar. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Your regular favorite Mark is on vacation for about a week. The task of keeping this blog busy has fallen to me. I will try to maintain Mark’s standards and bring you the best of weblog tools over this period. Everything will continue normally, hopefully. I used to blog actively at WordLog until academic pressures forced me to take a break from blogging. Regaining lost rhythm is difficult, and that blog hasn’t been updated in months. Other more recent pursuits have taken the upper-hand now. So what is your strategy for maintaining the perfect blogging rhythm?, do you guys have a “Workflow” for maintaining frequent updates to your professional blogs? I’d love to hear from you. Write a post on your weblog and then pingback this post (just link to this post) so everyone else can also learn about your techniques. Optionally I will try to condense the best practices […]

I remember the good old days in college when I used to have to name my Powerbook 5300 just right to get on the top few of my dorm’s list of machines on the chooser (I forget the name of the chat application we used to use, had a little comic-like talk icon in the chooser). It was not uncommon for a computer to have many tildas and exclamations at the beginning of their name to get up on the top of the list. I even remember doctoring my ICQ username. I bring this up because I have come to the conclusion that blogs with names beginning with the first few letters of the alphabet, get more hits than the rest. This completely unscientific and tin-foil-hat induced theorem is based on my personal experience with reading blogs on a feedreader. When I browse through my Bloglines feeds in the default […]
