IceRocket Blog Search: Saw the first “blogging” television ad yesterday for IceRocket on HDNet. Not a very interesting ad, but the flow of VC into the blogging industry and the purported revenue to be had might make these ads a staple on national/network television.

31 Days to Building a Better Blog: Name of the link says it all. This is growing into an incredible set of links, pages, blogs, articles and talent. Every blogger that is remotely interested in blogging as an art/profession/talent/something they can improve, should look at that page from time to time.

WordPress is celebrating blog security and protection with WordPress Backup Week July 23-30. WordPress, one of the most popular blogging and website management tools, is sponsoring WordPress Backup Week July 23-30. Step-by-step backup instructions will be available in the online manual, the WordPress Codex (http://codex.wordpress.org), and online in the WordPress Support Forum (http://www.wordpress.org/support) to help you through the process. Your database contains every post, every comment and every link you have on your blog. If your database gets erased or corrupted, you stand to lose everything you have written. There are many reasons why this could happen and not all are things you can control. But what you can do is backup your data, after all, it is important isn’t it? Making backups is essential because problems inevitably occur and you need to be in a position to take action when disaster strikes. Spending a few minutes to make an […]

AdSense Bad For Bloggers I take it back! Darren, over at ProBlogger, says that he earned between $10,000-$20,000 last month from AdSense. Now, he can get that much because he has 20 blogs, not all of which are about geek stuff (and he says ProBlogger earns terribly) so he has a wide variety of ads. ADSense is not bad for ALL bloggers, just bad for bloggers of the “technical” variety. 😉

Microsoft Recruiting Paid Bloggers Many professional bloggers are already poo-pooing the idea but I am not ready to discount MS yet. Microsoft has failed in the content game before but they do seem to have strong groups of people that “get” blogging and promotion through blogging (ala Channel 9, Scoble etc.). CNET has done a marvellous job at content blogging followed closely by others such as Weblogs Inc and Gawker Media. Persistent Microsoft with fair guidance from their own blogging gurus might just hit the mark this time. I cannot imagine the resources that a Microsoft blogger would have at their disposal and what they could produce with those resources. Thanks Threadwatch PS: I am quite tired of the phrase “get blogging”. Successfull Blogging is about faithful and clever journalistic marketing and not some tech savvy utopian ideal that only certain people are privvy to. Everyone gets blogging and good/useful […]
