Montana Tech Chemistry I know the name of the link is weird, but this is a very cool blog. I would have loved to have had a podcast from my professor, let alone a complete blog trying to engage me in the subject and get as much information to me as possible. Kudos! Web Board sucks. Thanks Blogging Times

Feedvertising Text-Link-Ads has released the beta version of their advertising service for feeds. I am a huge proponent of Text-Link-Ads and Feedvertising makes it easier for bloggers (especially bloggers using WordPress) to display ads in their feeds. Not only can you offer ads from advertisers, you can also reserve spots to highlight your own links and sites.

SixApart Vox So where is VOX? I remember a bunch of hoopla on the original Comet hosted blogging platform and remember thinking to myself that they are following the same path as WordPress.com with a small and private group of users with plans expanded to a larger audience while they learn the ropes of their new software. Most of the stuff looks like a web 2.0 rehash of most things cool put together with LiveJournal. Anyone use VOX? PS: I wonder if FeedBurner had to fix their “xx readers” script to accomodate TechCrunch’s cool 100k.

CNN: Blogging for Dollars A nice run down of some real numbers in the new web 2.0 blog to riches phenomena. Much of this information has floated about the web for a while but this article is well researched (CNN Money) and is an interesting read. Of similar interest is another series of articles from CNET on venture capital for bloggers. PS: Why in the world is TechMeme so darn difficult to link to?? I really like the ability to point to a series of articles but digging through jumbled code is a pain to say the least. I know that the “New Item Finder” can be used in some cases, but not all items seem to show up on that list.

Best blogs send audience away Want to tick people off? Have your links open new windows. Have users click to a number of links on your blog so they now have 8 or 9 windows open. Make it difficult to browse because the back button can’t be used to browse because every link is a new window. You’ll have people unsubscribing from your blog in a New York minute. Thanks The Blogging Times

Trac SpamFilter Plugin Use regex, IP blacklisting and Akismet to manage the spam problem in your Trac projects. Looks like there are plans to include a Bayes filter as well. I have worked with SpamBayes in the past but have never had stellar luck with it. They would be better off developing a monolithic bayes class within the plugin/Trac framework. In other words, create a neural network based simple perceptron with a unipolar step function. Thanks Alex
