Well, it’s finally here, the newest version of Greymatter. The Greymatter Team is very pleased with this release. In fact, this is the most pleased we have ever been with a release. Some improvements include beefed up security, emoticons (or smilies, or whatever you want to call them), music and mood inputs, updated (and validated) default templates, and more. The complete changelog is here. There has also been a change to the license agreement, so make sure you read it thoroughly. Read more and Download GM1.3 Here…

Oh, I see a weblogger has figured out how to install different versions of IE on the same computer and now others are wondering why we didn’t tell them how to do that. I don’t know. I like the trick, though. Gotta try that out here at home. …excerpt from: http://radio.weblogs.com/0001011/2003/11/06.html#a5383

I read about TBlog on a couple of different blogs and wanted to take a quick look at what it is about. There are some interesting features. They include: yourname.tblog.com No Banners Customizable Look Archiving Commenting Page Statistics Image Upload Tool tFRIEND Access Archivedar tBLOG Store Access Add custom HTML Most of the people that use this service seem to be yournger teenagers (of the past AOL Kids era) and speak in dialects of English I do not understand. However, their service is still free and unlike Blogger.com, there are no banners ur popups or pop-unders. Anyone interested in checking them out? Here is the URL for TBlog

Cool Scripts

I needed to have a small and fast bulletin board which did not need a MySql database and I ended up putting together the IdeaBox. This is written in PHP, is extremely simple and very configurable. Just download the source zip file, chmod 777 post.xml and you are ready to go. The php in index.php can be copied and pasted into any html or php page to add this board to that page. You can see the results at the bottom of my Regular Expressions Tutorial Some of the features include: Very very simple interface Board divided into easily navigable pages Very simple source, easy to modify Easily added to ANY php enabled page Does not require a database Relatively FAST

Looking for Templates or skins to make your WordPress site different from the next geek’s? I am sure you have looked at or downloaded the one hosted on this site. Besides the three column that I made, I have found a couple of other websites that provide very well done CSS themes or templates for WordPress for free download. Head over to the Weblog of Chris Arthur He has over 8 different styles to choose from and they are all VERY aesthetic! While you are there, and if you use his styles, send him a thank you note!

Cool Scripts

Jaykul has a NewsFeed Parser Script that I beleive is WayKul. OK, that was a bad cliche. This script is very easy to configure and has some nice features (including open source). It saved me the headache of writing my own! Some of the features include: RDF spec”>RDF “feeds” are, they are basically ways for a site to make it easy for other people (like you and me) to “syndicate” their content, getting headlines and possibly short excerpts of their articles. There are thousands of sites which produce these news pages, including my own, Lockergnome, GeoShell.com, ShellScape, SlashDot and more general sites like Internet News, and more! The output is simple divs with links and class names. All you have to do to use it is “include it” in your php script and then call the function. Download the script here Check out the RSS feed from Mindful Musings on […]

Jakub Kazecki posted a handy tip in our newsgroups which enables posting to MovableType directly from FeedDemon. First, select Tools > Blog this News Item > Configure Blog Publishing Tools, then click the “Add” button and enter this as the command line: http://www.myblog.com/cgi-bin/mt.cgi? is_bm=1&bm_show=&__mode=view&_type=entry &title=$ITEM_TITLE$ &link_title=$ITEM_TITLE$&link_href=$ITEM_LINK$ &text=$ITEM_DESCRIPTION$ Where ‘www.myblog.com/cgi-bin’ is the URL of your MT installation. After doing this, you’ll be able to right click on a news item and select “Blog This News Item” to post to your MovableType blog directly from FeedDemon. …excerpt from: http://nick.typepad.com/blog/2003/10/posting_to_mova.html
