Last month, we asked, how often do you blog? The responses were spread out quite a bit, with 28% blogging 1 to 3 times a month, 26% blogging every day, 24% blogging 1 to 3 times a week, 13% blogging 4 to 6 times a week, and 8% blogging less than once a month.
I’m quite surprised to see the near tie between 1 to 3 times a month and every day, two frequencies which a quite different indeed. Rest-assured, most of you are blogging more than once a week, which is great news! You should enjoy blogging, and nothing says “I enjoy Blogging!” more than cranking out a few posts every week. Blogging shouldn’t be so difficult that you put it off. If you do, you’re doing it wrong. Try to find some little things to share, like a video you enjoyed watching or an article you enjoyed reading. The more you blog, the better you’ll get, and the more fun you’ll have.
So, if you didn’t have a chance to tell us before, how often do you blog?
You can add me to that 28% figure who blog 1-3 times a month. Yes surely blogging is wonderful. There’s no better feeling than seeing your efforts online but there are different ranges of work for different people. But I would like to know that what’s the best practice. Should we blog everyday or just rest a bit?
Since I maintain a daily news blog for the Big Island of Hawaii, I write 750 to 1500 words per day describing and analyzing news events on Hawaii Island. This blog is a continuation of a blog I started 3 years ago when I was the news director of Pacific Radio Group stations on Hawaii Island. Since I retired last September, I’ve carried on with the tradition. The blog keeps me sane…most of the time. I also maintain an amateur radio (ham radio) blog on a wordpress.com hosted site. This blog is updated 2 to 3 times a week and is a bit looser in format than my news blog. Both blogs are loads of fun and get some curious reactions from readers. Thanks for doing the survey!
I guess its not quite surprising that the majority is blogging 1-3 times per month. If this was done a long time ago, I’m pretty sure that the vast majority would be the ones doing this at least everyday or 15 times per month.
It still varies depending on the niche but as a whole I think blogging has declined a bit.
I only blog a few times per month. Maybe an entry or two per week. I’d love to blog more, and I actually used to blog several times a week. I don’t know what happened, but I’ve found myself writing less and less.
Business blogging – 1-3 times a week, personal blog – almost every day.
I’m blogging just 1-2 times per week, depending on my free time. But if more could have been any night mood blogging to exclude ideas that build up in my brain.

Hi James,
at this moment I publish 2 posts a week. One (my post) on Monday, and second (guest post) on Thursday. It works very well for me, but I know that more we blog, more traffic we will have 😉

I love blogging. Sometimes I write a little too much, but I agree, you should enjoy what you are blogging about or something is out of place.
Hello from Sweden! I used to blogg every day, but then I grew tierd of writing about crap. Now I try to write longer and better posts, but I find its very time-consuming, therefor I just publish a text once a week/month.

Hello. I am blogging twice a week. I try to provide rather quality content than news. I guess about the latest news its easier to write because you have something to write about. I think news is great quality too. But since I’m in a niche I want to cover the niche fully. If I see that I have no idea then I will search about the topic and blog about what I’ve figured out.

I would be in the 24% category…blogging twice a week. Thanks for this article, I always love reading stats that apply to what I do 🙂
If you ask me than i blog regularly, about 5-7 posts each week as i have a tech blog i need to keep it updated with latest happenings. And when there is some event like Google I/O than the number of posts go up by even 15-20 in a week.
I find myself expecting the people I follow to be constant. If they blog everyday, then if they miss a day then I wonder what happened. If they do it once a week and miss, then I wonder what happened. Basically you should be constant in what ever you do or people will kind of get pissed/worried.
Hi Dan, interesting isn’t it. We are now blogging just once a week; where once it was two or three times a week, but the quality of our content has improved as we are enjoying writing with less pressure and our feedback is more positive.
Thanks for the read!
I try to blog whenever I find new and useful information or resources that would interest my readers and bring value to my website. Considering our niche I believe 2-3 posts per week is best for the moment.

I am not a regular blogger but whenever I get interesting news to share I blog without any fail and that’s my way of blogging. I don’t have any time intervals for blogging and it totally depends on my mind.
Just about every day. Some of my sites I blog on the weekends just because Traffic dies out pretty fast and these sites are like babies that need to be fed almost every few hours. I guess until some sites get to a certain age and number of links they tend to have temporary traffic instead of consistant high traffic. Blogging everyday is part of building a good audience and eventually having that steady consistant traffic after a good 6 months to a year of blogging like this. The once-a-week business is a no-no for me.. has to be daily in my book for it to “work”.
Have just recently acquired a blog so your post is very timely. To get some good information out is my priority and then my aim will be to blog at least once a week to start. Would love to build up to 3-4 times a week.
A think that the answer for everyone should be “whenever I have something to say”. It’s bad when bloggers write articles just in order to write something. I find it much better to see 1 to 3 quality articles per month than random ranting every day. I, personally, have still a lot I would like to write about, but writing is time consuming, so I try to post a new article about once or twice per week.
