Anybody tried the tumblr importer yet? I know a few people running these as secondary blogs behind WP, but all they do is use tumblr as a feed to push Twitter, Path, etc…

    • James says:

I imported my test Tumblr blog into one of my test WordPress blogs without issue, but that was only about 5 posts. I haven’t tried it on a larger blog yet.

  2. Brady says:

Thanks for the mention of Simple Page Sidebars!

  3. Tom Coburn says:

has anyone else noticed since WordPress 3.3 was released,
the option in admin panel under settings that says
“Allow people to post comments on new articles”
disabling that option no longer has an affect on the blog.
To uncheck that box no longer seems to disable comments
    for some reason.

what I’m trying to do is add facebook comments and the standard wordpress comments input boxes are still showing up not disabling wordpress comments like it had done in previous versions of WP. Just wondered if anyone else noticed this?

    • James says:

That option actually never affected the entire blog. It only affected future posts and pages.

To disable comments on a specific post or page, edit it and scroll down below the editor to the Discussion box where you can uncheck “Allow Comments.” If you don’t see the Discussion box below the editor, click the Screen Options tab near the top-right and check Discussion.

I am a bit of a plugin junky so I do appreciate these roundup posts that you put together. I have installed the text message plugin. Not sure it will add much but in the future could be very valuable.
