The latest version of BuddyPress, WordPress’ powerful “social network in a box” plugin, has been released. This long-awaited update improves compatibility with WordPress 3.0, adds some minor tweaks to the base theme, and resolves 91 issues!
Now that Paul Gibbs and Boone Gorges have joined the team, the next major release is on track for the end of 2010.
BuddyPress has been rapidly building its user base since 1.0 was released in April of 2009. Have you built something with BuddyPress? If so, we’d love to hear about it!
Absolutely a fan of Buddypress here. I’m an absolute newbie when it comes to WordPress and social networking, and still the ease I was able to set up multiple sites integrating Buddypress was incredible. And the community is great at helping out.
I’ve developed a couple, FavTrip.com is one I’m proud of. Basically allowing users worldwide to register and create travel blogs with their own geotagged photo galleries.
I’m also developing one for infographics groupies at Infoposters.com
Great article and glad to hear about the update!
I shouldn’t openly talk about it as it’s still works in progress, but busy Canadian social network Alberta Stars is being redone to run on WordPress with BuddyPress. Weehee. This will be a big one for the guys behind BP when it’s finalized 🙂
