bbPress 1.0 final, finally released: For those of us that are also fans and users of bbPress, bbPress version 1.0 is finally released. Many improvements over the 0.9 versions include cookie integration with WordPress, various fixes, JQuery integration, a complete XML-RPC API, new admin interface, new icons, improved spam management and much more. Backup files and database and disable all plugins prior to upgrade but our test upgrade went amazingly well and everything continued to work post upgrade.
Sounds great, I have been using bbPress a couple of times only to find out that there is always something going wrong with the integration into my WordPress install, but hopefully with this latest update and this so-called stable release (that might show a lot of bugs in the next couple of days, weeks months) will resolve the issue that I had with integration, or maybe it was just foolish me who did something wrong.
Been fiddling with 1.0 for a day now and I might actually go a head and build a live forum around it.
what I’d like to see, is a CMS system for wordpress.
or at least a way to integrate your current site with
your wordpress installation. (single sign-on)
I don’t use forum software, but my whole site is based
around wordpress, so it would be nice to be able to put
say, an index.php for instance, in front of wordpress
so the blog isn’t the first thing that comes up when
people goto my site. Been trying to figure out how to
do this for quite some time now, but I haven’t been able
to figure it out.
I mean, most of the users on my site goto my blog first,
but at the same time, I’d like to install other things
on my site too thats integrated with wordpress, like a
picture gallery for instance, and a welcome page,
which are things a CMS system would do nicely.
Love bbPress 1.0 and integration with WordPress. The only issue that remains is there is no Dutch translation available.
