Blogging News, WordPress

As January inches to a close, WordCamp Dallas is approaching from right around the corner. WordCamp Dallas is managed by Charles Stricklin who is known as being the host of the popular podcast, (The WordPress Podcast). The event will begin on Saturday, March 29th, 2008 from 9:30 AM-5:00 PM and on Sunday, March 30th, 2008 from 9:30 AM-4:00PM. WordCamp Dallas will be held at the Frisco City Hall which is located at 6101 Frisco Square Blvd Frisco, Texas 75034.

At the time of this writing, there were 261 tickets remaining. Each ticket costs $20.00 and nets you the following:

  • coffee and munchies both mornings
  • lunch both days
  • t-shirts to take home (or to wear one or both days!)

So far, the list of confirmed speakers are as follows:

Thats right folks, your very own Mark Ghosh will be in attendance as a speaker. I actually purchased my admission ticket the other night. Now all I have to do is work out the logistics. I’m looking forward to meeting Mark in person for the first time and it will be interesting to see all of these people who make WordPress what it is, outside of the blogosphere. I’m also looking forward to meeting Ronald Huereca as he will also be in attendance. You can see a full list of attendees that have registered thus far by clicking here. If you plan on going, please register as soon as possible so Charles has a good head count as to the amount of people that will be attending the event.

You have mentioned both days as Sunday.

It should be “The event will begin on *Saturday*, March 29th, 2008 from 9:30 AM-5:00 PM and…. ”

PS: People say I have eagle eyes .. 🙂

  2. Mark Ghosh says:

    Fixed. Thanks for the catch.

  3. Jeffro2pt0 says:

Damn. I read and re-read the article 4 times and I can’t believe I never caught that. Thanks Mark and Sudar.

  5. FYI, the semi-finalized schedule was posted last night.

What is this camp for? Is it for all you brilliant young computer geniuses to discuss brilliant computer-type things? Or is it for those of us who haven’t a clue to learn how to make our blogs better? 🙂

@Renae Well, it’s a conference for any and all people who enjoy using WordPress and either want to learn more about it, or just hang out with other people that use the software. I think I’ll write up a small article explaining what WordCamp REALLY is. Thanks for the idea.

Thanks, Jeffro! I would possibly be interested in a “WordPress for Dummies” class. 😉 I have really enjoyed my WordPress site, but I still feel a little intimidated . . .

If I come, I’ll only be able to make it on Sat. Would that be a waste of my time?

There is actually a book that was written by Lisa Sabin Wilson called WordPress For Dummies which I’m currently reading. Expect a review of that in the coming days/weeks. But so far, it’s been an excellent read and highly recommended for anyone who is new or in experienced with wordpress.

  10. Renae says:

Thanks! Will have to check that out! 🙂

  11. Hayet says:

It’s really interesting to attend the WordCamp Conference but how about those who can not attend it? Is it possible to get a summary of the conference? I am new at ESLBLOG and I am really interested in using WordPress. I would be grateful if you can help!

  12. Jeffro2pt0 says:

@Hayet The event will have WiFi capability so I’m sure there will be folks twittering and live blogging the event. As for myself, I’ll be taking a voice recorder as well as a digital camera for videos and photos. There are always a ton of media that gets shared after a conference such as this.

Check out the schedule that Charles posted, that pretty much sums up what the conference will contain as far as information goes.

  13. PJ Brunet says:

From downtown Austin it’s 3 hours to downtown Dallas, then to Frisco tack on some more time. I’ll just wait until you hit Austin next, whenever that is 😉

  14. Alex says:

    How did thise conference go?
