WordPress vs Drupal: Todd Zeigler’s opinions on whether to use Drupal or WordPress to accomplish various publishing tasks depending on the relative ability of each software to excel in particular tasks. Though I agree with some of the premises, saying WordPress Mu is not quite ready for prime time is a very bad generalization and dependent on Todd’s experiences with a very particular need (developing a network of blogs that share content and is centrally managed) that he tried to fill with Mu.

Different Posts Per Page allows you to modify the number of posts shown in home, category, archive or search page. Download Counter Lite is a simple tracking system to keep a watch on how many downloads your files get. Download Counter Advanced is a more versatile version than the ‘Lite’ version which still tracks downloads and keep counts but can also download virtually any file type. Gallina 4 allows you to publish the starred email from your Gmail to your blog. Clouded is a 3-column, widget-ready theme with a sleek, minimalistic feel. Finishline is a 2-column, widget-ready theme with a sports car theme. NoWayOut is a 3-column, fixed-width theme that shows the four latest posts assigned by categories on the front page. Pony is a 2-column theme with a light and simple layout. Remo is a 2-column theme with artistic header and support for recent comments, related posts, lightbox clone, breadcrumb navigation, and Ultimate Tag Warrior. WordPress 2.3 en Español: Alex has translated WordPress 2.3 into Spanish. Though a few more bugfixes might go into WordPress Beta 3, I believe it is mature enough that there will be few mismatches with the translation. Go grab the .mo file from Alex’s blog and follow his instructions to setup WordPress in Spanish. In related suggestions, have you upgraded to WordPress 2.2.3 yet

Akismet Auntie Spam Ver 2

Managing Spam Maintenance with Akismet Auntie Spam Version 2: engtech has updated his “Akismet Auntie Spam” greasemonkey script. This new version has some nice improvements including collation of spam from the same IPs, grouping by sender, better usability and quite a few other slick new features. If a lot of spam gets caught in your Akismet plugin and you need to run through them quickly to weed out false positives, this script is the ticket. I have been using it since the original beta and I like it.
