Yahoo! Launches Pipes: Nik performs an in depth, albeit somewhat negatively jaded frustrated review of Yahoo! Pipes (which are clogged/down at the time of this post). The blogoshpere and the web20sphere is agog with analysis of this somewhat complex (or wait, was that somewhat simple) method of analyzing, cataloging and publishing web service data from anywhere and everywhere on the Internet. My take on it, without actually being able to use the application, is that the user interface is simple and the idea is very useful and attractive but it might not be designed/implemented with the average user in mind. I think Anil puts it very succintly:

Pipes combines a remarkably sophisticated development environment with some core social features such as the ability to clone or share the web services you produce. The service is fairly approachable, but somewhat complex once you get just under the surface, and should be moderately successful while radically raising the bar for other tools in its category.
